Last Saturday a group of young men hired the Bowling Green at Leinster for an afternoon of fun bowling. The social event brought together a group of friends from Australia, Dublin & Mayo. The idea was the brainchild of David O’Toole, originally from Cong, Co. Mayo and now living in Australia. David who is home on holiday had seen bowls played in Australia and thought it would be a novel way to spend an afternoon with some friends. David’s brother Micheal came up from Cong with some friends and they contacted more of their friends in Dublin to complete the group for the afternoon.
Leinster provided Coaches to instruct the group in the art of bowling and to supervise the three rinks. The group were well behaved and by their own account had a very enjoyable experience. Bar facilities were available to them for the afternoon.
