The annual President’s & Captains’ Day event was held on Sunday 23 June at Leinster. The inclement weather on the day affected attendance and bowls were played on the short mat in the Pavilion. This was a challenge for many members who play outdoor bowls only, but the occasion was a light hearted event of fun bowling and apart from the occasional shout of “wrong bias” everyone got along just fine.
After bowling, the members adjourned to the bar and this was followed by a delicious salad meal in the Function Room. President Peter & Captains Annette and Robbie carried out the symbolic cutting of the cake which was served with tea and coffee.
The President and both Captains made presentations to the winning team and the runners-up in the afternoon bowling competition (see photos). President Peter thanked those who came along to support this event. Captain Annette congratulated Thomas Smyth who played in the BLI/Inter-Association matches and she wished every success to the ladies selected for the LBLI/Inter Association marches to be played at the end of June and the first week in August at Musgrave Bowling Club, Belfast.
