This year the Bowling Committee decided to combine the Club Competition Finals/Presentations with the President & Captains’ Day.
The finals were played over the weekend Friday 20th,/Saturday 21st./Sunday 22nd. September. From what was a week of warm bright sunshine, the weather on Saturday and Sunday was overcast and cool. The Competitions commenced in July and were well supported by members including many new members, some of whom reached the finals and were on winning teams. The Competitions Director, President Annette Finn & Anne Fitzgerald did an excellent job running the competitions and scheduling matches over the three days. The standard of bowling was excellent throughout the competitions.
The Prize Giving event took place in the Bowlers Pavilion. Prizes were dispensed by President Annette Finn assisted by Anne Fitzgerald. Club Captain, Mary Kelly and her team were in charge of catering and did an excellent job.
Following Prize Giving, presentations were made to the following:
Glenn Kaufmann.
Glenn and his bowling partner won a silver medal in the Pairs Competition at the Parabowl European Championships held recently in Ayr, Scotland. Glenn was the only competitor from the Republic of Ireland and the club wish to acknowledge his achievement.
Hon. Secretary, Catherine Clarke.
President Annette Finn made a presentation to Catherine in recognition for her trojan work for the Bowling Committee and for the President herself.
Club Captain, Mary Kelly.
President Annette made a presentation to Mary for her work as Captain of the Bowling club and for her catering at many of our events.
President Annette welcomed ILB President Anne O’Herlihy (Leinster) to the celebrations. Anne presented framed photos of our first “Hot Shot” team to Pat Keenan, Evelyn Gordon, Maeve Kenny & Carmel Hourican. Anne also presented a framed photo to Glenn Kaufmann as a memento of his success in Ayr.
