- Noel O’Reilly.
The 7th. International Deaf Bowls Championships will take place at Belmont Bowling Club, Belfast from 28 August to 9 September 2015. One of our members, Noel O’Reilly has been selected for the Irish Team in this prestigious event. These events cost a lot of money to host and attend and with this in mind and on behalf of Leinster Bowling Club, Ron Prince, Arthur McMullen & Pat MacDonagh organised a fund raising event to support Noel and Deaf Ireland.
A Rinks Competition, 6 rinks of 8 persons per rink was held at Leinster on Friday 27 March and the results were as follows:
The winning team, Nicky O”Mara, Terence O’Farrell, John McKeown & Peter Knight.
Second place, Lorraine Doyle, Vivien Lee, Seamus Cosgrove & Pat MacDonagh/Tony Fitzpatrick.
Third place, Sheila Dennehy, Marion O’Callaghan, Dermot O’ Donoghue & Eamonn Brennan.
A message from Ron Prince.
“On behalf of Noel O’Reilly, Pat MacDonagh and Arthur McMullen, I would like to thank you all most sincerely for the terrific response to our fund raising event last Friday. Six full rinks, a very friendly atmosphere and glorious sunshine all contributed to make the day a very special one.”
“I’m very pleased to say that we are able to contribute the sum of €900 to The Deaf Council towards their International Championships. The sum was made up of entry fees, cash donations and the proceeds from the raffle.”
“This was a magnificent response and I thank everybody who contributed to it. I would also like to thank Marie Fitzpatrick, Tony Hyland and Vivien Lee who helped out on the day.”
