The annual unfurling the flag ceremony was held at Leinster on Saturday afternoon 25 March 2023. The President, Anne O’Herlihy welcomed the members and wished them a successful and enjoyable bowling season ahead. Anne thanked the many sub-committees for their work throughout the year and in particular the Development Committee for the many new members they brought to the club. Anne said that 2023 will be an exciting and historic year in the history of lawn bowls in Southern Ireland. It will see the amalgamation of the BLI & LBLI into a single association named ILBA (Irish Lawn Bowls Association) which will give equal status to men & women in the administration and playing of lawn bowls in the Republic of Ireland.

The two captains, Mary Kelly and Ciaran Murray unfurled the club flag and raised it high on the flagpole, they then rolled the symbolic first woods of the season to symbolise the official opening of the Summer Bowling Season 2023.

On conclusion of the official ceremony, members retired to the bar for much appreciated refreshments.
