A fund raising bowling challenge event was held in Leinster Bowling Club on Sunday 9 August 2020 in aid of Pieta House & MindWise, Northern Ireland. The event was organised by Neil Booth, the high performance coach for Irish Bowls who plans to visit 50 bowling clubs throughout Ireland over a 12 day period where he will play a 3- end game against a member from the clubs. He plans a quick photo of the score board and his opponent and move on to the next venue.
More details on Neil Booth and his bowling challenge are available here: 12 Day Bowling Challenge for Charity.

Neil was greeted on arrival by Bowling Club President Robbie Meany and introduced to his opponent Pat MacDonagh and to Men’s Captain Peter McArdle who marked the match.
Robbie thanked the members for their donations and made a presentation to Neil, he wished Neil every success for the remainder of his challenge. Neil replied by thanking Robbie and the members for their support, he said he was “surprised by the generosity of the Dublin people”. He said this series of bowling challenges was not about bowls but a means of raising much needed funds for the two charities whose fund raising activities are curtailed due to the Coronavirus.

The match (3-ends) got underway and as expected the standard of bowling was excellent. However, Neil was the dominant player on the day winning all three ends. Neil departed soon afterwards to his next venue accompanied by Oliver O’Brien (his driver) and Shay Tyrrell who recorded the event.
