The annual Morton Cup Competition was played on 12 October at Leinster Bowling Club. Congratulations to the Leinster Ladies who were successful on this occasion. Leinster previously won this competition in 2008. The Leinster team consisted of a mixture of new members and experienced bowlers. Supporting the team were Annette Finn, (out of action due to injury), Joan Downes & Eileen Smyth. This match is usually played in April each year but was deferred until October due to Kenilworth holding the LBLI Presidency. A great team effort won out on the day and the game was played in a competitive spirit and good humour.

Anne O’Herlihy, Ladies Captain.

Editor’s Note: (extract from Leinster Centenary Booklet)

In 1943 after a friendly match between Leinster & Kenilworth ladies, a Mr. Morton (we think a grandfather of Brian Morton of Kenilworth) offered to sponsor a cup, called the Morton Cup. This cup is played for annually on a single match basis, in alternative clubs.
